The St. Leonard Horse Procession, a horseback parade, has a long tradition in Upper Bavaria, Western Austria and South Tyrol, including Alta Badia. This solemn procession is held in honour of St. Leonhard of Limoges, who is considered to be the patron saint of prisoners and farmers and their livestock, especially horses.

Tradition and customs play a major role in this Alta Badia procession. People wearing traditional Ladin costumes, splendidly-decorated carriages and festively-decorated Haflinger and Noriker horses take part in the procession which ends with a blessing of the horses and breeders.

Visitors are served typical Ladin delicacies such as ‘turtres’ (fried spinach pastries) or ‘furtaies’ (fried desserts). And at the end of the event, anyone who wants to take home regional and fresh products from the farmers should visit the farmer's market.
