March is the time for sowing…

What’s new from South Tyrol’s farms

Farm Holidays in South Tyrol
Elements of farm culture can be felt all around, as you will soon realise when you take a holiday on a farm in South Tyrol. Come and see for yourself!

In the old days farmers used horses to do the heavy work on the farm, which began in March. These days this is no longer the case, but the bulk of farm work still begins at this time: leaves have to be cleared away and fields prepared to be sown. Potatoes are planted and corn set down, whilst orchards and vineyards are pruned into shape. There’s something new to discover each day when you spend a ‚Farm Holiday‘ in South Tyrol.

However, it takes a while for the fruits of the farmers‘ labours to appear – so why not return in autumn, at harvest time, to experience another stage of the agricultural calendar at first hand!
