A voyage of wine discovery in South Tyrol
You don’t have to be a wine expert to appreciate the pleasing effect of the mild summer sun dancing in a glass of a young sparkling wine. Getting to know the wine farm tradition along the Etsch and Eisack rivers is an absolute must on a voyage of vinicultural discovery along the South Tyrol Wine Road.
Holiday guests can experience this lively wine culture for themselves on a ’Red Rooster’ wine farm and on walks between various informal ’Buschenschänken’ (farms producing wine from their own grapes on the premises).

Besides producing the great South Tyrol classics Gewürztraminer, Lagrein and Vernatsch, some wine farms cultivate tempting rare grape varieties such as the spicy ’Kerner’, the light and fruity ’Blatterle’ or the cherry fruit ’Zweigelt’. By the way, just 0.7 percent of the wine produced Italy-wide comes from South Tyrol, yet the region has earned itself a legendary reputation thanks to its ability to come up with top quality wines time and time again.

Last but not least, wine farms make the ideal base for going on walks in the lower Eisack valley, through the lower Meraner Land area and along the South Tyrol Wine Road, with all its mediterranean atmosphere, in the sunny South of South Tyrol.
