Advent on South Tyrol’s farms

Advent for bon vivants and explorers

Farm Advent in South Tyrol: ‘Latschenpunch’ and ‘Krapfen’

Farm Advent in South Tyrol
When dusk closes in around the farmhouse and only the warm farm parlour emanates light, there is a cosiness in the air. Kids can lend a hand during Advent by kneading, cutting out and decorating Christmas biscuits while the farmers do the baking. And then it’s time to get together for a cup of mulled wine or children’s punch in front of a crackling fire.

The period in the run-up to Christmas is different in every valley and locality and is always full of surprises. Guests to a farm in South Tyrol during Advent will be well looked-after, as they join in with local customs and traditions. Advent markets, processions and age-old customs are a unique experience in rural South Tyrol. Far away from busy roads and traffic, visitors will be able to experience some really devilish characters, with wooden donkeys hunting wild demons and making an ungodly racket, walking trees out to spook and starting to sing, villages emanating warm light and resounding with historical music and the voices of choirs – find out about events here.

Besides being well placed for the Christmas markets, ‘Red Rooster’ farms make great bases for outdoor winter activities, such as snowshoe walking, winter walks or sledging excursions.
