Autumn in South Tyrol is inseparably linked with ‚
Törggelen‘ - an age-old custom in the agricultural year. It is also the ideal time to enjoy a holiday on a farm in South Tyrol and investigate this tradition in more depth.
The word ‚Törggelen‘ does not come form ‚torkeln‘, but has its origins in the ‚Torggl‘ or wine press. ‚Törggelen‘ takes place in cosy rural inns that can be reached on foot and incorporated into a
pleasant walk. The fresh autumn air invites you to try the ‚Nuien‘, or
‚young‘ wine, whilst your childrens‘ thirst will be quenched with ‚Susser‘ or unfermented
grape juice.
In addition, there are plenty of
roast chestnuts, ‚Keschtn‘ to be had and hearty South Tyrolean cooking for all. You will find a treat for your tastebuds when you try out all that the farmers have to offer and experience the unique hospitality of a farm holiday in South Tyrol at the same time.
