The light from the farmhouse has a special quality

Home-made products of South Tyrol

People can feel a little bit out of place when they open the door of a farmhouse inn and take a step inside. What with the narrow entrance door, the old chest in the hall, the door to the dining room half open, great-grandfather’s portrait on the wall in the hallway and the quiet bubbling of soup coming from the kitchen – all this is more reminiscent of a farmhouse in the midst of its working day than of a conventional eatery! The hearty greeting of ‚Grüßgott’ and the farmer’s firm, honest handshake will confirm this hunch. A farmhouse inn has little in common with a conventional restaurant. Here, the family atmosphere, personal attention and human aspect are what set the tone.

A visit to a farmhouse inn will offer far more than just speciality dishes from home-made products. Surrounded by natural materials and pleasant smells, you will be able to experience real farm culture at first hand. The farmer will tell stories, pass on his words of wisdom or describe how hard life in South Tyrol’s mountains was once upon a time. The farmer or his wife will also be more than happy to tell you about how the farm specialities found their way to your table. Where else would you have the chance to test the origin of what you are eating than straight from those who produced it?

One thing is clear: a visit to a ‚Red Rooster’ farmhouse inn is a really special experience. After all, it is the warmth and hospitality of the farmers that give the light from the farmhouse its welcoming quality.
