Open from 1st April to 20th December. Thursdays closed. From 15th June to 15th August closed Thursdays and Sundays. Orders in advance required for evening meals.

Description

Niedermairhof farm is situated high above Kastelbell on the side of the Trumsberg mountain. From its sun terrace you can enjoy fantastic views down and across Vinschgau valley and into Martelltal valley and inside there is a cosy and inviting wood-panelled farm parlour. The Kaserer family’s many home made products will turn ordinary meals into a real treat.

Food and drink

Speck, cheese, ‘Kaminwurzen’ (chimney smoked sausage), dried beef and home made bread. speck dumpling soup, cheese dumplings, liver dumplings, ‘Backerbsensuppe’ (home-made broth with Austrian style croutons), Vinschger bread soup, ‘Schöpsernes’ (mutton), roast beef, house sausage, fried eggs with sautéed potatoes, seasonal salads. ‘Kaiserschmarrn’ (sugared pancake with raisins), omelettes, home made ‘Krapfen’ (fried sweet pastries), Austrian style croissants and apple strudel. In spring, salad with cress and in winter, beetroot and cabbage salad, as well as kohlrabi. Juices: red currant, elderflower, plum, raspberry.

To go by car

Coming from Meran/Merano, turn right at the centre of Kastelbell/Castelbello in the direction of Trumsberg for about 10 km.

To hoof

Take the cable car from Latsch/Laces to St. Martin am Kofel and there take path 2 or 8 in the Trumsberg direction (about 1.5 hours). Or from Kastelbell/Castelbello, Latsch/Laces or Tschars/Ciardes take paths 2 or 8 (about 2 hours).
