Description

The Luggin family has set up an interesting farm inn at St. Nikolaus near Kaltern, a local place of pilgrimage. You can reach the rustic cellar via the farm shop with its numerous farm products and enjoy South Tyrolean farm dishes with a glass of wine, fruit juice or spirits from the farm's own organic distillery.

Food and drink

Home-made bread, 'Kaminwurzen' smoked sausage, Speck, Graukäse cheese. Various soups, salads, dumplings as well as ravioli with seasonal fillings, 'Schlutzer' spinach ravioli, Kaltern polenta, 'Muas' savoury flour dish. Strudel, various cakes and home-made raspberry ice cream. Meat dishes with various side dishes, 'Tirtlen' fritters and 'Krapfen' sweet pastries on advance order. In autumn home-made sausages with cabbage and meat cuts. Juices: apple, apple-blackcurrant, grape, elderflower, blackcurrant, raspberry.

Our vines

The 'Odorus' white wine is a cuvee of Pinot Blanc and Gewürztraminer and displays pleasant freshness, bouquet, body and elegance. The 2010 Kalterersee has a characteristic hue, fruity aroma and is particularly quaffable. The red wine produced from fungus resistant vines, 'Lavardi 2010', is distinctly spicy in aroma and its modest body makes it a pleasure to drink.

To go by car

From the centre of Kaltern, take the Mendelpass direction until you get to St. Nikolaus. Park there and the farmhouse bar can be reached on foot after 200 m. The Citybus from Kaltern and the bus service from Bozen will also take you to the farm.

To hoof

It is 20 minutes to the farmhouse inn from Kaltern village centre. The farm makes the ideal starting point for walks along the Kalterer Alpine Path and the path to the Mendel pass.
