Description

The sun terrace at the Kinigerhof at 1,399 metres above sea level occupies prime position for viewing the gigantic Sextner Dolomites. Right across from the farm, the famous rocky towers, known as the ’Sextner Sonnenuhr’ or ’Sextner Sundial’ reach up to the skies. The house speciality is cured meat: the ’Speck’ from various different pork cuts, cured beef, sausage, salami and cooked ’Speck’ are excellent. The many herbs and berries from the farm garden used in the cooking add a special touch.

Food and drink

Mixed platter with Speck, cheese, cured beef, smoked sausage, salami and cooked Speck. Barley soup, goulash soup, vegetable soup and Speck dumpling soup. Speck and bread dumplings, gnocchi with cheese, spinach and mushroom. ’Schlutzer’ (spinach ravioli in butter), potato ravioli, potato gnocchi with cheese sauce. Goulash with dumplings, roast beef and port, house sausage with cabbage, omelettes, fried eggs with Speck. ’Kaiserschmarrn’ (sweet pancake with raisins and cranberry jam), strudel, ’Strauben’ (see glossary) and various cakes. To order: grilled dishes, spare ribs and ’Bauerngröstl’ (sautéd potatoes with meat, eggs, herbs and spices). In summer, various salads and fresh goat’s cheese to order. Juices: elderflower, redcurrant and blackcurrant.

To go by car

Turn left at ’Sport Mode Kiniger’ in Sexten, follow the ’Europaweg’ to Hotel St. Veit and the farm is signposted from there.
