Description

This listed farmhouse is situated north of Brixen, between Vahrn and Neustift, at the foot of a steeply sloping vineyard. It once belonged to the so-called Mairhöfen and provided income for the bishop. Today it is here to spoil you with a drop of its home-produced wine and tasty dishes.

Food and drink

Speck and cheese, ‘Kaminwurzen’ (chimney smoked sausage), barley soup, ‘Schlutzer’ (spinach ravioli), dumplings, cheese dumplings, house sausage, cured pork, cold cuts platter. Omelettes, ‘Kaiserschmarrn’ (sugared pancakes with raisins) and sweet ‘Krapfen’ (fried sweet pastries). To advance order; ‘Erdäpfelblattlen’ (fried potato pasties) with cabbage and ‘Tirtlen’ (fried vegetable pasties). In winter, pickled beef, cabbage or beetroot salad. Juices: apple, elderflower and sour cherry.

Our vines

The 2010 Müller-Thurgau immediately unleashes its nutmeg notes and is noticeably balanced when drunk. The 2010 Sylvaner is a magnificent wine with a discreet yet varied nose reminiscent of ripe fruit and an excellent sugar-acid balance. The 2010 Veltliner is both fruity and spicy and fresh and balanced when drunk. The 2010 Kerner displays typical stone fruit aroma with a hint of citrus fruit. The cuvee of Portugieser and Zweigelt is an interesting and fruity wine.

To go by car

Coming from Brixen, turn right at the end of the village of Vahrn. The farm inn is 100 metres down the road on the left-hand side. Coming from the north, turn left as soon as you get to the village of Vahrn (follow the signs).

To hoof

From Brixen via the Neustift Convent (around 30 minutes). Starting at Griesserhof you can get to the Vahrner See lake through the Riggertal valley (about 50 minutes). The Eisack river cycle path goes right past the farm.
