Description

The Föhrnerhof Farm was first mentioned in records in 1135. The farm enjoys views across towards Bozen and over the Überetsch (Upper Adige) valley as far as the Unterland (Lower Adige) and allows insight into its long history. Yet, it likes to move with the times and the young farmer Karin Bracchetti has long been a presence in the male-dominated world of winegrowing.

Food and drink

Speck, ‘Kaminwurzen’ (chimney smoked sausage), ‘Graukäse‘ (strong cheese with a grey core), home made bread, speck dumpling soup, spinach, liver, cheese and herb dumplings, ‘Schlutzer’ (spinach ravioli). House sausage with cabbage, cold cuts platter, brawn, sour beef, as well as game. Apple strudel, omelettes and ‘Kaiserschmarrn’ (sugared pancakes with raisins). In spring, nettle turnovers and mutton to advance order. Juices: apple, elderflower and peppermint.

Our vines

The pleasant 2010 Chardonnay with its exotic fruit and delicate creaminess on the palate. The 2010 St. Magdalener is very characteristic and appeals thanks to its varied aromatic notes of berry and spice. Its delicate tannin and mildly acid taste make for a harmonious and very drinkable wine. The 2009 Lagrein is an intensive dark and floral wine which appeals thanks to its smooth tannins and pleasant body. The 2010 vintage of this wine is a touch fresher, chewier and more floral.

To go by car

From Bozen/Bolzano, take the Jenesien/S. Genesio road. Shortly before the third tunnel, turn left into a narrow road (signposted). After 300 m you will find the 'Buschenschank'.

To hoof

The 'Ochsenweg' path behind the old parish church in Gries goes to Glaning (path 9) and goes right past the 'Föhrner' farm (signposted). From Bozen/Bolzano and Glaning it is about 40 minutes on foot.
