Description
The Föhrnerhof Farm was first mentioned in records in 1135. The farm enjoys views across towards Bozen and over the Überetsch (Upper Adige) valley as far as the Unterland (Lower Adige) and allows insight into its long history. Yet, it likes to move with the times and the young farmer Karin Bracchetti has long been a presence in the male-dominated world of winegrowing.
Food and drink
'Speck', smoked sausage, 'graukäse' cheese, home-made bread. ' Speck' and liver dumpling soup, 'Schlutzer' spinach ravioli, spinach, cheese and beetroot dumplings, dark bread gnocchi with 'graukäse' sauce, calf's cheek, boiled beef, spare ribs, knuckle of pork. Cheese with jams and chutney, selection of cakes, semifreddo. In autumn house sausage with cabbage, cold cuts and chestnuts. In spring rabbit and lamb as well as mutton. Cordials: apple, elderflower, peppermint, lemon balm and blackcurrant.
Our vines
The 2016 Chardonnay has a great banana and pear aroma and is gripping when drunk. The 2016 Gewürztraminer is an elegant and delicate ambassador of its variety. The 2016 Vernatsch displays great fruit. The 2016 Lagrein is reminiscent of dark forest fruits and has a soft finish.
To go by car
From Bozen/Bolzano, take the Jenesien/S. Genesio road. Shortly before the third tunnel, turn left into a narrow road (signposted). After 300 m you will find the 'Buschenschank'.
To hoof
The 'Ochsenweg' path behind the old parish church in Gries goes to Glaning (path 9) and goes right past the 'Föhrner' farm (signposted). From Bozen/Bolzano and Glaning it is about 40 minutes on foot.
