This traditional riding event takes place annually in honour of the great South Tyrolean knight and lyric poet, the Minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein. Among other things it tests classic riding skills, with a medieval festival taking place at Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern on the eve of the tournament.

The Oswald-von-Wolkenstein riding event begins in the Isarco/Eisacktal valley at the castle Castel Forte/Trostburg at Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck: the riding teams move from one tournament match to the next with fluttering banners, displaying their speed, dexterity and general horsemanship.
