Oberniederhof in Schnals

The Oberniederhof farm, in the centre of the district of Unser Frau im Schnalstal, is over 700 years old, a listed building and has been in the hands of the same family for more than 250 years. The Tappeiner family runs the farm in accordance with 'Biolandverband' organic farming guidelines and has set up a pen for horned cattle. This not only signifies a return to more natural methods, but a step forwards in the adaptation of an old mountain farm to changing circumstances. Domestic animal breeds in need of protection are raised here on the farm, for example, Tiroler Grauvieh, black-brown mountain sheep, pigs from Schwäbisch Hall and Sulmthaler and Altsteirer hens. 'Farmhouse Art' is also a feature of the farm. A guided tour of the Oberniederhof means taking a dip into another world, under the motto of 'going back to the past - experiencing the present - anticipating the future'.
